Root Canals
In the past, teeth with diseased nerves have been removed from the mouth. However, a root canal, can often save a diseased tooth. Now in most cased, the root canal procedure involves little to no patient discomfort.
Root canals are a procedure that allows a dentist in most cases to save a problem tooth. The dentist will create an opening through the crown of the tooth (area above gum line), then remove the pain-producing, diseased pulp. The chamber in the roots is then cleaned and a temporary filling is placed. The temporary filling is then replaced with a permanent filling or a crown based on the location of the tooth within the mouth.
