Testimonials

"I needed dentures for many years, but due to my health condition, no dentist had ever managed to make me any. I met with the dentist from Doorstep Healthcare, and she was very patient and kind. Because she was so patient, she succeeded in doing impressions with me and making my dentures. She did a wonderful job. They look just like my regular teeth! This made a big difference in my life — I feel more comfortable with myself, and more at ease when I am around people. Now I can smile with ease, and I can eat anything I want!"
Patient, Bethel Care Center

"One morning, my 83-year-old father woke up to realize that he had broken off three of his four remaining teeth overnight. He needed to see someone right away. I got in touch with the staff of Doorstep Healthcare Services, and they squeezed him into their busy schedule that every afternoon! The dentist did a wonderful job of patient care with him and developed a very thorough and professional plan to get his mouth back in working order so he can eat and function normally. My dad and I both felt good about the plan. We appreciated that the dentist addressed both a temporary solution and a long-term solution. We are lucky to have a service like Doorstep Healthcare providing care right in my father's home!"

"As a long-term care administrator, I am particularly grateful for the work that is done by Doorstep Healthcare. Oral care is extremely important for maintaining overall health of our residents. Since the majority are covered by Medical Assistance, it is very difficult to find dental providers who are willing to provide services. Doorstep Dental has embraced the challenge of bringing quality dental services to nursing home residents who would not otherwise have the means to see the dentist. They do their work with professionalism and compassion, and make a huge contribution to quality of care and quality of life. Thank you, Doorstep Healthcare!"
Ernie Gershone, Executive Director, Golden Living Center, Delano -- DHS Board Chair

"Our primary clientele at Bethel Care Center consists of ventilator-dependent residents who find it impossible to seek private dental services due to the need for a nurse to accompany them and large amounts of life support equipment to be transported, as well as those with demential and behavioral challenges. We also care for several residents with language barriers, and the dentists of Doorstep Healthcare have found ways to communicate with these residents. I am impressed by the level of professionalism and creativity utilized by Dr. Malik and the direct care staff in treating our residents at Bethel Care Center. The team's patience shown with just trying to get a person to open their mouth or comply with an exam is exemplary. I have never seen the dental crew turn someone away because they are considered 'difficult.' The treatment goals are realistic to the residents' needs. All DHS employees strive to keep the lines of communication clear and to keep meeting the residents' oral care needs at the forefront. Having a transporter come with the dental team further promotes the communication between dental and nursing staff, and frees up facility staff to complete their normal duties. I look forward to a long working relationship with them!"
Carol Anderson, Dental Liaison, Bethel Care Center

"Doorstep Healthcare Services is a wonderful service to our facility. The staff from Doorstep Healthcare is trained in dealing with elderly and disabled patients, and they are able to adapt to the needs of the patient instead of forcing the patient to adapt to the needs of the office. For some patients, traveling out to unfamiliar surroundings, like a dental office, is very frightening. Because Doorstep Healthcare comes into our residents' homes and sets up a full dental office, our residents do not have to worry about not knowing where they are or how they are going to get back home. Without a service like Doorstep Dental Service, many of our elderly patients would not get any dental care."
Jamie Branvold, Dental Liaison, Southview Acres Healthcare Center

"As an 88-year-old man who knows many people residing in long-term care settings, I am well aware of the challenges of these residents in obtaining dental care. Doorstep Healthcare Services provides an extremely valuable service in providing dental care in a long-term care resident's own setting. Many of these residents would otherwise be forced to go without care. I volunteered to be on the board of directors of DHS because I personally know of the need. The board has mobilized together to work toward meeting the large amount of unmet dental need in Minnesota. We seek to educate the public about this need, in an effort to provide expanded services that are sorely needed."
